Canonteign Falls is now closed for the winter and look forward to welcoming visitors from 11th March 2026.
Canonteign Falls is a stunning visitor attraction in Devon, set within 90 acres of beautiful parkland and ancient woodland on the edge of Dartmoor National Park. Home to the highest waterfall in Dartmoor, it's a perfect destination for days out in Devon, combining spectacular scenery, peaceful walks, and family-friendly activities.
Enjoy a choice of walking trails suitable for all ages and abilities, from gentle lakeside walks to invigorating woodland routes leading to the top of the Falls. 90 original Victorian steps wind through a dramatic Victorian fern garden, opening out to panoramic views across the Devon countryside.
Canonteign Falls is one of the most popular family attractions in Devon, offering plenty of space for children to explore and play. The adventure playgrounds include trampolines, a wooden galleon, zip wire, and mini assault course, while woodland trails feature hidden fairies and willow dinosaur sculptures that delight younger visitors. The new playbarn offers indoor activities too, ride on cars, craft tables, and comfy seating make this a great covered play space if the weather turns.
After your walk, relax at Canonteign Kitchen, our welcoming lakeside cafe serving homemade food made with local produce. Enjoy a seasonal menu, Devon cream and afternoon teas, cakes, barista coffee, and a dedicated children's menu. Indoor seating is cosy in cooler months, with outdoor terraces courtyards, and picnic spots overlooking the Lily and Swan Lakes.
At weekends and during school holidays, our outdoor snack bar serves light bites, hot drinks, and ice creams. The gift shop showcases unique gifts from local Devon makers and boutique suppliers.
Entry to the cafe and shop is free, and dogs on leads are welcome, making Canonteign Falls a popular dog-friendly attraction in Devon and an ideal choice for couples, families, and nature lovers alike.
