Looking for a creative and meaningful half-term activity? Join us for a playful, hands-on textile workshop where families and young creatives (ages 7+) can explore the art of block printing and simple Sashiko-style stitching
This relaxed session is all about experimenting, getting a little messy, and enjoying the process of making together. Youll design and create your own colourful patterned fabric pieces, working individually and collaboratively to explore different textures, patterns, and techniques. No experience is needed, just curiosity and a willingness to try something new!
Your creations will become part of a larger, collaborative artwork, a patchwork map of our community which is assembled and displayed in the library. This shared piece will celebrate creativity in all its forms, highlighting the beauty of diverse styles coming together. The focus is on playful exploration rather than perfect results, creating something truly special as a group.
As part of Green Libraries Week, the workshop also offers a gentle introduction to stitching skills inspired by traditional repair techniques. Its a chance to think about sustainability, mending, and reusing textiles in creative ways.
Please note:
Suitable for ages 7+
All children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult in the library
Come along, connect with others, and stitch together something meaningful, one piece at a time.
