One of the all-time great Progrock bands make their first ever visit to the venue celebrating an incredible 55 years since their formation and bringing their unique mix of progressive rock, folk, fusion, jazz and dynamic live performances to legions of fans old and young alike.
‘Curved Air……Legendary British classic prog/rock art group….. beautiful demonic violin, tremendous musicianship and the exotic presence of lead singer Sonja Kristina’. This was how the music press recently described Curved Air after their staggering show at the Isle of Wight Festival.
The band reformed, inspired by iconic vocalist Sonja Kristina and oriental drummer Florian Pilkington-Miska. Original guitarist Kirby Gregory rejoined the ranks leading a skilled and talented line up from Sonia’s Acid Folk band bringing their unique music to an existing and new fanbase for the 21st Century.
Their concert and festival appearances continue to thrill with an experimental blend of classical themes, electronic sounds and beautiful timeless songs, performed with unrivalled fire and passion.
One of the most dramatically accomplished of all the bands to come out of the late 60s Progrock explosion, these elements elevated them from the underground Roundhouse scene to top the album charts. They burst onto the scene, signed to Warner Brothers who released their debut album ‘Air Conditioning’ notable for being the first commercially available picture disc in the UK. Reaching No 8 in the album charts and charting singles hits ‘It Happened Today’ and live favourite ‘Vivaldi’ soon to be followed by major chart hit ‘Back Street Luv’ which led
to a major US tour opening for B.B. King and Johnny Winter.
The band has always included celebrated soloists within its ranks including legendary drummer and producer Stewart Copeland who went on to join The Police (the band that is!)
Over the years they have appeared alongside some of the biggest names in rock including Fleetwood Mac, Jethro Tull, Black Sabbath, Yes, Free and Status Quo amongst a host of others.
Always known as a dazzling live act playing brilliant timeless music by five virtuoso musicians feeding their electric energy to the undisputed queen of Progrock out front.
That old phrase “They don’t make them like this anymore” has never sounded so relevant.
Catch them while you can!
‘Sonja Kristina prowls the front of the stage expertly playing off the energy of all the performers with her. There is no denying they remain formidable live’ PROG MAGAZINE
‘Thrilling exponents of rock/classical crossover’ LOUDER
‘All of the players impress, stunning instrumentalists who immerse the audience in a set of swirling solos, with the undisputed queen of British Progrock Sonia Kristina and what a joy it is to see her and Curved Air back in action again perfectly recreating the band’s uniqueness authentically’ CLASSIC ROCK
‘Progrock and Jazz/Fusion teetering on the edge of arty hard rock’ REAL GONE
