A sell-out Global Music night for Exeter’s sonically curious!
We would warmly like to invite you to our Dance Against Racism (No 10) where this time, we raise money for Mutual Aid Sudan. I’m sure we’ve all heard about the crisis as a consequence of the complex civil war, causing suffering, mass displacement, hunger and infrastructure destruction. We believe that, alongside supporting local causes, we should uplift others globally and counter the legacies of colonialism and dehumanisation of the Black Body…
As always, we are offering this dance as a space to be together in community as one and give a clear message of support to all our friends across the globe. We want to let them know that we see them, support them and hear their plight.
Many cultures around the World use movement, dance and song as a form of resilience and resistance. Movement is energy materialised. We can dance and welcome each other, dance our belonging, dance our connectedness, our grief, our sense of injustice, dance the truth as we know it, dance our sense of the possible, dance our deeper knowing of collective joy, dance our human way of simply being together….what we do here on the dancefloor matters and has a rippling impact elsewhere….
So come, bring yourself, your body, heart and mind as we dance together.
All profits will go to the charity Mutual Aid Sudan. They are doing some incredible work on the ground, agilely responding to the peoples needs, funnelling the resources to places where they know it is most needed. They also as far as we can see have quite transparent accountability.
