Drawing is a superpower anyone can have! It focuses attention, settles our minds, connects us with what we study and enables us to see things as they really are. So come and learn, practice and hone your skills at the popular RAMM Drawing Club sessions this spring and summer. Especially designed for home-educated children and focusing on themes in RAMM’s permanent and temporary fine art and Colour exhibitions, each monthly session will teach and develop drawing techniques as well as explore some different subject matter, either on display or hands-on with some specimens or artefacts. Led by James Winrow, an experienced natural history artist and outdoor educator, the club will be a supportive, fun and welcoming environment suitable for complete beginners or experienced scribblers. Come prepared to be encouraged, challenged and delighted! Adults are encouraged to drop their young person off and collect at the end of the session if possible, but are welcome to stay for the duration if necessary to support their young person with any SEND or if they feel they need a little additional support. Please only book a ticket for the young participant in their name – accompanying adults do not need to book at ticket. The six monthly Drawing Club dates are: All sessions run from 10.30am to 12.30pm in Garden Meeting Room. Each session will explore a different subject or technique, so why not book them all to secure your place? Recommended kit list – please bring this along to all the sessions: – A4 sketchbook or pad of cartridge paper – Set of sketching pencils – mix of soft and hard grades if possible – 4B to 4H. 4B / B / 2H / 4H – Pencil sharpener – Putty rubber – Set of charcoal sticks or pencils – For the May, June and July sessions you will be painting with watercolour and gouache. We can provide these, but you may want to bring your own if you have some good quality paints and brushes at home. Information about accessibility is available on our Access page.
