To raise funds for Seaton Cricket Club, Henry Blofeld has agreed to bring his My Dear Old Things stageshow to the Gateway Theatre in Seaton.
If a schoolboy Blowers had missed the Eton bus that knocked him off his bike, he might have gone on to a successful county and, who knows, international cricket career. It would have diverted him from the path he took, via a hated job in the City, to work as a cricket journalist and, in all probability, we would have been deprived of the most distinctive and colourful voices to grace Test Match Special.
In My Dear Old Things, Blowers reflect on a truly extraordinary life, filled with such scrapes and near misses. There are hilarious tales of Johnners, Arlott and other larger-than-life characters in the box and on tour with England. Henry also has plenty of hysterical stories from his post-retirement appearances on Would I Lie to You? and The Real Marigold Hotel.
Backed by film and rare personal pictures on our big screen, My Dear Old Things is an absolute treat for the cricket connoisseur and a wonderfully engaging evening for all.
