February half-term in Exeter (14th to 22nd February 2026) offers an array of family-friendly events, activities, and attractions, in and around the city, to entertain children of all ages.
From popular family attractions such as the Royal Albert Memorial Museum (RAMM), Haldon Forest Park and Crealy Theme Park to theatre events and adrenalin fuelled indoor activities on Exeter Quayside, there's non-stop fun to be found. If you're worried about the weather then we've put together a handy blog with some great wet weather options and also written a piece on money saving half-term ideas that are small on cost (some are even free) but still big on fun, fun, fun!
Bringing together vibrant artwork and surprising facts, discover incredible art that brings science to life with RAMM's family-friendly exhibition, Wow! Amazing Science in Children’s Books. Other activities through half-term at RAMM include Felt Badge Crafts (17th Feb), Changing Faces (18th Feb), and Musical Moments Around the World (19th Feb).
There's no shortage of entertaining (and educational) activities being hosted at Exeter's cultural hub, Exeter Phoenix. Their packed programme includes Lego Animation (16th & 17th Feb), Gaby Gulliver's Travels (16th Feb), Sculpt a Selfie (18th Feb), Willow Weaving Family Workshop (21st Feb), and much more. The perfect remedy for if the wet weather drives you indoors this half term.
With over 60 rides and attractions, Crealy Theme Park is the South West's number one family day out. Offering a wide selection of outdoor rides and attractions, plus huge indoor soft and adventure play areas, there is something to do for the whole family, whatever the weather. This half term you won't want to miss their amazing Bubble & Pop event! Experience bubble magic with Believe a Bubble and dance along to a pop-tacular Taylor Swift tribute act.
If you've got a head for heights then you'll love climbing with your family and friends at the South West’s largest indoor climbing wall, The Quay Climbing Centre on Exeter's beautiful Quayside. If that's not enough of an adrenalin rush then you could also fly through the treetops on a Go Ape adventure at Haldon Forest Park, which itself is a fantastic place for mountain biking and adventure.
Bringing you back down to earth and for something more relaxing then how about a boat trip along the peaceful waters of the River Exe with Stuart Line Cruises, where young ones can enjoy some wildlife spotting. Who doesn't love a train ride and you can take a family trip on board the South Devon Railway which runs along the stunning valley of the River Dart between Buckfastleigh and Totnes.
For fans of train journeys then you can't miss one of the UK' most scenic routes along the coast to the beach towns of Dawlish and Teignmouth. Just a short ride on Great Western Railway and you'll be feeling the sand between your toes, soaking up the fresh sea air and treating yourself to an ice cream. You're on holiday after all! Further down the line and there's Kents Cavern - one of the most important Stone Age sites in Europe and one of Britain's best showcaves! There's also the opportunity to hop onboard the Dartmouth Steam Railway, taking you on a wonderful waterside journey from Paignton to Kingswear.
Starting at February half term, and lasting all year, join Mr Toad, Ratty, Mole and Badger at RHS Garden Rosemoor for a brand-new interactive garden trail, based on the well-loved book The Wind in the Willows. Follow Mole, Ratty and Badger and chase after naughty Mr Toad as you go on an expedition across the garden encountering various characters and learning about nature, loyalty and friendship. If it's the great outdoors you enjoy then a visit to the National Trust's Killerton is always popular. The historic parkland with extensive woodland makes for a great day out and perfect for your four legged friend.
A trip to Haldon Forest Park is always a wonderful experience and another great reason to visit is the free Earth Photo exhibition. It's on show until 19th March and amongst the forest you'll discover beautiful photographs from around the world, reflecting on issues affecting the climate and life on our planet.
