Fancy an invigorating day outdoors where you can get expert growing advice, tour edible gardens, watch live talks and cookery demonstrations, and browse and buy tasty treats from local producers?
Gardening meets gastronomy at Plot to Plate, RHS Garden Rosemoor Saturday 4 - Sunday 5 October, where you can learn how to make the most of your growing spaces, no matter how large or small. With over 35 local traders, live folk music, shire horse logging, kid's crafts and a feast of autumnal produce, it's a harvest celebration for all ages!
Stretch your legs and join a tour of the extensive fruit and veg gardens to learn about the vast selection of edibles grown on site and for heaps of helpful gardening tips to get the best harvests of your own. Admire produce displays and take in a live apple pressing, juicing or pasteurisation demonstration.
Then take the weight of your feet and learn from the experts in the Stream Field Marquee – you'll be amazed at what you might learn! Discover how to transform pumpkins and squashes into mouthwatering sweet and savoury dishes with a live demonstration from cookery school Tineke Cooks. Join Josh from The Collective at Woolsery to hear how they farm sustainably and regeneratively, growing most of the produce required for their pub and Michelin key manor hotel. Separate the facts from the myths about veganism by listening to Rob from The Garden Box. Or, learn about orchard and cider diversity from Clare of Rull Orchard and enjoy cider samples made using different techniques.
If you have a mystery apple tree in your garden, bring in three of its fruit, preferably with a little bit of branch and leaf, for Horticultural Specialist Jim Arbury to identify. You will also be able to see and taste some of huge variety of cultivars grown in both Rosemoor and Wisley's extensive orchards, so you can decide which you like best to grow in your own garden.
Families can join The Kids Adventure Company in their fantastic Tipi to create flower crowns, bow and arrows and clay animals, or make a s'more over the campfire. They can also head to the Lower Woodlands to watch Forest Craft's beautiful shire horses shift logs as part of Rosemoor's sustainable forest management plan.
Taste some local fare in the Steam Field from The Garden Box, Nomad Dining and Oh Crepes! while you enjoy some Honeywood cider and relax to folk music from Arslan Musica on Saturday and True Foxes on Sunday.
Or, sample fresh produce from the garden carefully prepared onsite for the restaurant, whose delicious menus shine the spotlight on what's in season, harvested daily. The weekend's dishes will feature new recipes giving you a chance to taste pumpkins in ways you never thought possible!
Make sure you visit the Garden Room to admire gorgeous autumn harvest displays and browse over 35 stalls featuring local traders and artisans selling delicacies, drinks and beautiful handmade crafts.
