The History of Sound

About

In 1917, gifted singer Lionel Worthing, raised on the folk songs of rural Kentucky, attends the Boston Conservatory, where he meets composer David White. The pair bond over a shared love of folk music, and begin a secret romantic relationship.

After being separated by David’s service in World War I, they reunite in 1920 for a journey through Maine, recording traditional songs of rural Americans. Their winter together becomes a bittersweet testament to passion, memory and cultural preservation, shaping one another forever.
