Word Kitchen Autumn Open Mic for Prose Writers and Poets

Our open mics return to Exeter Phoenix with a theme of Autumn Leaves.
Writers can interpret this literally as a prompt for writing about the season, the shift in the light, nature's changing colours, and patterns, or metaphorically. It can be an extract from a short story, a piece of nature writing, flash fiction or novel segment with an autumnal setting, or a fragment of memoir that's rekindled by the season and its sense of endings, departures and the approach of winter.
We would encourage you to bring either a work in progress or bring along 800 words of new writing inspired by the theme.
Poets are welcome, always, writing on the same theme. We also welcome new faces to the mic. If you are reading for the first time do think about doing your own read through as a practice at home.
For this event we are offering 10 minute reading spots (maximum time including any introduction) and we would love you to book a ticket and reading spot.
To secure a reading spot contact David Lloyd sidmouthdavid@outlook.com
