As one of the 13 venues for Rugby World Cup 2015, and location for the final leg of the European Rugby 7s tournament, Exeter is ideally placed amongst a hot bed of rugby in the South West. Whether you are supporting your team at Sandy Park, or are new to the sport and want to experience the great atmosphere of a rugby game with the Exeter Chiefs, why not make it a sporting weekend and explore all that Exeter has to offer...
Stay for the weekend to explore the historic city of Exeter, its surrounding countryside and nearby coastline, in between rugby games.

In Devon we love the great outdoors - and it's easy to see why. Miles of World Heritage coastline line some of the most beautiful countryside in England, much of it internationally recognised. Exeter is the ideal base from which to immerse yourself in Devon life. Dartmoor National Park is to the west of the city, and the start of the World Heritage Jurassic Coast is a short drive or train ride away at Exmouth.
Whether it's on foot, by bike, on horseback or on the water, get out there and enjoy this ultimate outdoor playground!
After the sun goes down take in the city's buzzing nightlife, with live music and theatre at many of the city's venues across the weekend.
After the rugby, enjoy local ales and fine wines in Exeter's bars and pubs. Soak up the history in one of the pubs surrounding the Cathedral or head to Princesshay or Gandy Street for cocktails and fine wines. Exeter's quayside is home to the waterside Samuel Jones Smoke and Ale House, named Britain's Best New Pub 2016.
Exeter's location in the heart of Devon, surrounded by farmland and close to the coast for the freshest seafood means it is increasingly becoming recognised for the quality of its dining scene. From fine dining to street food, you are sure to find something to tantalise the taste buds, as the choice on offer here is remarkable!
Heather Baker from Saddles & Paddles tells us her favourite things about Exeter's quayside.
