"Plants have great cultural importance they are used as symbols of identity as well as for food and medicine.
As the plants around us produce seeds and fruit and prepare for winter take time to really record the colours and forms of the season in our ongoing series recording the plants that have significance for us. We will be using a mix of materials including; graphite, black and white charcoal, sanguine and watercolours and explore the following; Observation

Volume
Light and shadow
Composition
As always we will also look at the study of plants and botanical illustration within the context of art histories
In the final week of the of the course we will take some time to collectively share our illustrations and stories.
This course is suitable for those who have no previous experience as well as those who are returning to expand their existing skills.
All basic materials will be provided but you are welcome to bring along personal favourites as well as some specimens to work from.
