Welcome to our NEW 3D Design Course!
Please do take a couple of minutes to read the details below as it explains what you can expect from our course. The 3D Design Course runs on five consecutive Wednesday mornings from 1000-1130.
Our NEW Home-Ed 3D Design Course
This course is designed for Home-Ed Students aged 8 to 16yrs. It is designed to take their 3D design skills further than we are able to in an individual workshop. Each of the 5 sessions will build on the skills learnt so far and will include a mixture of software.
The course will cover:
* Essential skills
* Combining objects
* Creating holes
* Rotating objects
* Converting images into 3D objects
* Sculpting - more freeflow
* Importing models from other sources
* Artistic design
A range of design projects will be covered in the workshops. They will receive a 3D print of their design from Session 1, 3 and 5. These will be printed after the workshops. They will be able to collect their printed designs from sessions 1 and 3 at the next session. Designs from session 5 will be able to be collected once we email that their designs are printed.
Places are very limited so booking is essential. It will not be possible to turn up without a ticket. For this workshop, participants need to be aged 8 to 16yrs. Emergency contact details will be completed during the checkout process.
Please note that we need a minimum of four people to book for the workshop to go ahead. If less than 4 tickets are sold, we will contact you and refund your payment. Participants should be dropped off at the FabLab and collected at the end of the workshop unless you give permission for them to leave without an adult collecting at the end in the checkout process.
About this Workshop:
In our workshops, our Digital Making Tutor, Marcus Brown, will briefly run through how the process works and will give a shirt demonstration pointing out some of the key design techniques needed for the session. Following this, attendees get to develop their own skills or create a design.
A few things to note:
Refunds- our policy is no refunds. If you are unable to attend, please let us know as we are running a waiting list and, if we can resell your ticket, we will refund your ticket (but not the transaction fee). If we cannot resell your ticket then no refund will be issued. If you are unable to attend then please notify us as soon as possible and then we can 'release your ticket'.
If we have to cancel a workshop for any reason, we will refund you your payment in full.
Late Arrival - It will not be possible to join the workshop if you arrive more than 15 minutes late. By this time, we are getting into the technical content of the workshop and it's not possible to go back over what we have already covered.
Mobile Phones - Mobile phones should not be used in the workshop. It is ok for participants to have a phone with them but they must not be used in the session. If you have any further questions - please do email us at:fablab@librariesunlimited.org.uk
Appropriate Design Content - In some recent workshops I have had to say no to some image and text content attendees have selected. I mention at the start of workshops that the content must be age appropriate and not offensive or illegal. If there are any issues with this I may phone an emergency contact to check if they are happy. All of our internet delivery in the library has a filter running to minimise inappropriate content.
Additional Learning Needs - in the checkout details there is a section for you to let me know any additional needs. If your child would have support at home for their learning, it would be sensible for an adult to stay and support them.
Any questions? If so, please do email me and I will come back to you. I work part-time so it can take 2-3 days to receive a reply sometimes.
Many thanks,
Marcus Brown
