Join storyteller Thomas Spencer for a special performance of wild folk tales. Expect surprising creatures, magical journeys, and (because it's Halloween) a few spooky moments along the way. And then help us to invent a brand-new adventure story unlike anything that's been told before. There will be a series of fun creative tasks that need your ideas, from drawing magical maps to inventing unusual beasts.

We'll have cosy, relaxed seating, so we can imagine ourselves gathered around a campfire as darkness falls (all within the comfort of Emmanuel Hall). In between seasonal tales, we'll have a break for drinks and snacks.

Thomas Spencer is a writer and storyteller. Having toured the UK with award-winning theatre productions for many years, he now spends his time working with young people: sharing folk tales from around the world and inventing new and surprising stories.

This performance is designed to be fun for children and adults alike. Some of the stories may be a bit scary for younger children, so we'd recommend it to ages 7+ (but we're not going to turn anyone away as every young person is different and we trust you to know your own children's interests). Adults remain responsible for the young people with them at all times - especially when everyone is moving around to join in with workshop exercises.

And while we expect a lot of families at this afternoon event, it's not only for kids. Adults are totally welcome on their own - folk tales are for everyone.

Grown ups, this is a family workshop so will be required to stay with your children throughout the event.
This event is taking place in the Studio which is accessible via a flight of stairs.
