About

The Bookery is thrilled to be hosting an uplifting evening with two outstanding South West authorsVeronica Henry and Liz Fenwick. This special event celebrates two remarkable milestones: Veronica Henrys 25th novel The Invitation and the launch of Liz Fenwicks brand-new book Floras Day . What better way to step into spring than with stories of love, secrets, and second chances from two of the regions most cherished voices in contemporary fiction? Veronica Henry and Liz Fenwick will be joined in conversation by a friend of The Bookery Anne Oxborough OBE.

Veronica Henrys latest novel The Invitation sweeps readers into the glamour of post-war London and the enchanting Foxwood Manor in Somerset. At its heart are three womenClementine, Stella, and Elizabethwhose lives intertwine amid glittering parties, hidden love affairs, and family secrets. Will the past tear them apart or bring them together? With her trademark warmth and storytelling brilliance, Henry delivers a tale of passion, friendship, and resilience that will linger long after the last page.

Floras Day is Liz Fenwicks eleventh novela tender, evocative love story set against the backdrop of Cornwalls beloved Flora Day celebrations. Flo Richards has sworn off Helstonand the traditions that once meant everythingafter heartbreak shattered her world sixteen years ago. But as the town bursts into colour and music, Flo faces the dance that could change everything. Can one day mend a broken heart and open the door to new beginnings?

The conversation will be chaired by Anne Oxborough OBE, an experienced literary interviewer. Annes career in education culminated in an OBE for services to Further Education, and for the past decade she has brought her insight and warmth to literary festivals, interviewing authors including Jo Brand, Emma Stonex and Ann Cleeves.

This promises to be an evening of joy, friendship, and storytelling magic. At the end of the event, there will be a wonderful opportunity to meet Veronica and Liz, chat with them, and have your books signed or personally dedicated. This event forms part of The Bookerys programme of author talks and cultural events and reflects the bookshops proud support for the National Year of Reading 2026.
