Would you like to take part but don't know where to start?
A Cut Up Cabaret event is being put together by Stephen Hodge, Matt Fletcher and Gosia Zajc who are running a workshop on Saturday 30th May to develop material for short performance moments that will happen on the evening.
No prior experience is required. Just bring a playful attitude.
We would love to work with people who speak languages other than English as well as people who don't. Everyone is welcome. We can fit around 12-15 people in the workshop.
What to expect at the workshop
The workshop will run in two sessions 10.30am-1pm and 2pm-4.30pm. We would love people to stay for the whole day, but if you can only come for half of the day, please come in the morning.
Drawing inspiration from Zurich Dada's Cabaret Voltaire and Krakws Zielony Balonik (Green Balloon), we will plunder, break apart and reconfigure found texts relating to the Custom House and Exeter's historic trade. We'll exchange stories of our hometowns and countries. Make cut up poems. Explore tongue-twisters in different lingos. Build brand new languages. By the end of the day, we'll have made a number of individual and collective contributions that will form the backbone of June's A Cut Up Cabaret.
We will provide tea, coffee and biscuits. If you are staying for the whole day please bring lunch with you.
We will also be holding a 'rehearsal' moment on the day of the event for anyone that would like it.
