The Bookery is delighted to welcome acclaimed author Nick Harkaway for a very special event celebrating the publication of his highly anticipated new thriller, The Taper Man, the latest novel featuring John le Carrs legendary spy, George Smiley.
One of the most eagerly awaited crime and thriller releases of the year, The Taper Man sees George Smiley return to the shadowy world of Cold War espionage in a gripping story that takes him from Europe to the heart of American intelligence. Set in 1965, with the world balanced on a knife-edge, Smiley finds himself on the trail of a dangerous traitor whose actions threaten Britain's most valuable secret source inside the Soviet Union. Elegant, tense and morally complex, the novel is a thrilling continuation of one of literatures greatest espionage traditions.
Nick Harkaway is the bestselling author of Karlas Choice, Gnomon, The Gone-Away World, Angelmaker, Tigerman and Titanium Noir . The son of John le Carr, he brings a unique perspective to the celebrated world of George Smiley, winning widespread acclaim from readers and critics alike.
The evening will offer readers a fascinating opportunity to hear Nick discuss the challenge of continuing one of the most beloved series in modern fiction, his relationship to le Carrs literary legacy, and the enduring appeal of George Smiley in today's world.
Following the conversation, Nick will be available to meet audience members and sign copies of The Taper Man.
