The Morley Consort Presents -'Of still and loud noise'

About

The Morley Consort presents an evening concert exploring the history of Devon - encompassing King Arthur, Viking raids, civil war and climate change - performing music on historical instruments with narrations from period first-hand accounts. Performance made possible by funding from the Continuo Foundation.

Named after Thomas Morley's penchant for mixing instrument families, the Morley Consort is an early music ensemble dedicated to radical historical performance and applied research. The members blend craftsmanship-including reconstructing experimental period instruments and bows-with rigorous primary source study to explore underrepresented repertoire, historical pedagogy, and performance norms. By challenging established conventions and sharing their discoveries through engaging concert experiences, the ensemble aims to bring fresh, uncharted sound-worlds to modern audiences.
