This October Half Term you are invited to uncover the spooky secrets of plants in an interactive, ghoulish garden trail, get creative with Halloween crafts and enjoy a packed programme of special family activities at RHS Rosemoor. From puppetry and animal encounters to potion-making and axe throwing, there will be something for children of all ages to enjoy.
Explore the garden and discover scary-looking species, plants with legendary powers and poisonous plants with dark secrets. Collect rubbings along the way, discover fascinating plant facts and keep an eye out for fiendishly fun photo opportunities.
Unleash your autumn creativity with free drop-in Halloween craft sessions daily in the Garden Room from 10.30am-12.45pm and 2-3.45pm, Saturday 24 - Saturday 31 October. Make something spooky to take home, with activities inspired by the strange and wonderful world of plants (suitable for all ages, children must be accompanied by an adult).
On Tuesday 27 October you are in for a rare treat. Experience the legendary Anglo-Saxon tale of Beowulf brought to life by Rattlebox Theatre with captivating storytelling, clever puppetry and beautifully made sets and props, Sessions are suitable for ages 7+ and run at 10.30am, 11.45am and 2pm in the small Garden Room.
Ready to take aim? Challenge your friends and family to try their hand at axe throwing with the expert instructors from Rock and Rapid Adventures on Tuesday 27 October from 10.30am-3.30pm on the Learning Centre Lawn. Learn how to throw safely, aim for the target and see who can get closest to the bullseye (suitable for ages 13+, younger adventurers can join the fun too with a toy axe-throwing challenge). Both activities are free with garden admission, but children must be accompanied by an adult.
Join Really Wild Learning in the small Garden Room on Wednesday 28 October at 11am, 1pm and 3.30pm to get up close with some amazing animals in an interactive encounter. Meet fascinating creatures, learn more about them and enjoy a hands-on experience with opportunities for animal handling and photographs (suitable for ages 3+ accompanied by an adult).
Or step into the lab with Devon Science, where science and sorcery collide! Enjoy exciting demonstrations before getting hands-on to create your own magical potions. Sessions run at 10.30am, 11.45am, 1.30pm and 2.45pm on Thursday 29 October in the small Garden Room, recommended for ages 4+.
