In this talk Caradoc Doy, Devon-based horticulturist and Veitch researcher, talks about the work of Messrs Veitch in Devon spanning a period of nearly 200 years. Starting with the early days of John Veitch in Killlerton, through the James Veitch senior period and finishing with some of the work of Robert Veitch & Son, Exeter, this talk highlights some of their achievements during this period – including many beautiful plants introduced by their first three collectors, William and Thomas Lobb and Richard Pearce, and some of their landscaping work in the South West from the 18th to the 20th Centuries.
